What Happens in a Musical Meet & Greet?

These 10 minute placement interviews are relaxed, friendly, warm, and welcoming - true to what AVHC is all about. We will do our best to give you the most positive experience. We use this time to sing together and get to know each other, so we can set you up for success!

We will do a few musical exercises, like singing patterns, listening and echoing, rhythm clapbacks and sight-singing. (No experience with sight-singing necessary; it is only for placement in our literacy program.) Then your child can sing any song they are comfortable with - a musical theatre tune, a pop song, a traditional song from your culture, O Canada or even Happy Birthday!

Fees

As a registered non-profit charitable organization, it is important to AVHC that our program is accessible to as many children and youth as possible. We keep our fees as low as we can, and everything the choristers need for their learning and success is wrapped up into one fee.

We have flexible payment plan options, as well as opportunities all year long to fundraise to offset any choir-related costs. This amount can be used at any time or accumulated over your years with the choir.

In addition, we offer a Bursary Program for our singers thanks to the support of Mud Creek Rotary Club.

AVHC Kids: $475.00 Junior Choir: $525.00
Intermediate Choir: $595.00
Senior Choir: $620.00

Fees include everything the choristers need for the whole year! This includes:

  • Tuition for full rehearsals and small group music literacy instruction

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child/youth require previous choral or private voice lesson experience?

No previous choral or voice lesson experience is required!  Just a love of singing, a willingness to work together as a team, and the desire to learn and have fun while doing it!  Because all of our choirs overlap in age, we are able to provide a rewarding and satisfying experience for every singer, regardless of experience. It is essential for each young artist’s development that they are placed in the choir level that is right for them! All singers are asked to participate in a placement interview, where the director will determine which choir is the best fit based on your child’s age, musical experience, and social maturity.
