Welcome to Intermediate Choir!

Members of Intermediate Choir build musicianship and long-lasting friendships in a joyful and creative environment.

For Singers Who:

  • ARE IN GRADES 5 - 9

  • ARE PASSIONATE AND EXCITED ABOUT SINGING

  • LOVE CONNECTING AND COLLABORATING WITH OTHER SINGERS

  • ARE OPEN TO ALL TYPES AND STYLES OF MUSIC

Singers in this ensemble are truly developing young artists!  Repertoire is diverse, covers more styles and languages, and spans from unison up to 3 and 4 parts.  For this age, emphasis is also put on community, team building, taking risks in a supportive environment, and strengthening confidence as young people.  This choir incorporates further development of musicianship in dedicated music literacy (music theory and sight singing) activities in small group instruction, as well as take home practice.

The Intermediate Choir performs twice  a year with all of the AVHC choirs, as well as in community performances throughout the Annapolis Valley. Depending on the year, travel opportunities are available throughout the Maritimes and Canada.

AVHC Intermediate is conducted by Heather Fraser, with support and mentorship provided by Senior apprentices

Rehearsals:   Wednesdays at St James Anglican Church Hall, 18 Prospect Ave. Kentville

6:15pm - 8:30pm

How to Join?

Intermediate Choir does not require previous experience. Because all of our choirs overlap in age, we are able to provide a rewarding and satisfying experience for every singer, regardless of experience. It is essential for each young artist’s development that they are placed in the choir level that is right for them!  All singers are asked to participate in a musical “Meet & Greet”, our placement interview, where the director will determine which choir is the best fit based on your child’s age and musical experience.
